Now this promises to be entertaining. Patricia Slavick, a member of the Guilderland Town Board and an official in the State Comptroller's Office, is challenging Mike Conners for County Comptroller. She's a CPA, which he is not. Be nice to have someone in the job who can count, huh?
Be even better to have a Democrat who's not a mere opportunist. We all remember when Conners switched sides because he didn't get his way. Acting like a pouty kid, he switched sides, took a bundle of Joe Bruno's money and ran against a Democratic incumbent, Neil Breslin. When he got his butt kicked, he switched back. Well he may have switched his registration, but we now know what it means to him. Not much.
The Times-Union story has Conners saying that in the County Committee he'll ask that his name be withdrawn for the Democratic nomination to avoid a "nasty floor fight" and to "protect his supporters." Translation? He'd get his butt kicked again and he wanted to avoid further embarrassment. He lost the Candidate Review Committee by 14-7.
Here's hoping for another butt kicking for Conners in the primary.
