Nancy Pelosi's right, of course that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales should resign. He never should have been appointed in the first place.
But W.'s keeping him around keeps attention focused on the Administration's aggressive incompetence. And paralysis in the Justice Department is undoubtedly better than allowing the Bush Administration to resume using the Department for a host of inappropriate, extra-legal, maybe illegal, corrupt, and ultimately subversive purposes.
Should we think for a second that George Bush would replace Abu with someone competent, honorable, and semi-independent, someone who would administer the Department of Justice as a Department of Justice? Get real.
Leave him in place and let him spend the next year and a half "twisting slowly, slowly in the wind." For you kiddies, that line's from another corrupt Republican Administration.
